Dude with the DOTs here for a few special announcements.

There is a buzz brewing across the country – can you feel it? Sure, March Madness is happening in college basketball, but the real buzz – we all know – is for ACE’s March Madness. March is DOT Month – and if you commit to a DOT this month, you’ll be entered to win some sweet prizes (maybe even your own Flip Cam!) We also have some pretty sweet things going on for ACE Action Teams across the country: a by-invite only competition for the month. Email me if you’re interested, maybe we can get you in.

So, they don’t call me the Dude with the DOTs for no reason – I’m one of the most intense DOT-ers you’ve ever seen. And for March Madness, I’m bringing back one of my craziest DOTs of all time – THE ZERO WASTE CHALLENGE. (#boomgoesthedynamite.)

Here are the rules: no garbage for the entire month. Whenever possible, take the zero-waste or lowest-impact option available. For example – try to bring your own container when getting food or grab fruit instead of a candy bar (wrapped in garbage, right?). Maybe you’ll carry around your own water bottle and/or coffee mug… Ok, so there are a few exceptions: Yes, I use toilet paper.  Yes, I use electricity. I’ll be blogging some more about the successes and failures, so stay tuned.

Some things I try to do: cook for myself and friends, line-dry my clothes (look to the right), bring my own tupperware to the bakery for cookies, and always have a cloth napkin and some bamboo silverware with me. Sounds like a lot, but once you get going, it’s all gravy.
