Ever feel like no one is listening? Like people aren't getting what you're putting out there? Like your family or people in your neighborhood don't take climate change (or youth) seriously?!
I know how you feel. I'm from suburban Philadelphia, PA, and a few years ago (despite extreme weather patterns like blizzards in late April) my community still wasn't convinced that climate change was real. They thought it was "cute" I cared about the environment but that's about it.
I was frustrated - wanted to make them think, but I didn't have a lot of money or a lot of time. So, I wrote several letters to the editor about climate change and extreme weather and what it meant for our future, for our beloved apples, for our seasons and wildlife. A few days passed and then, the phone started ringing. Our neighbors noticed my letter and they were concerned because I was concerned. I know my speaking out has made a difference - our town has come a long way, and we now have solar panels on our public buildings.
ACE can help you raise your voice, too. We've got a brand new project track called Raise Your Voice - and it's all about helping you raise your voice about climate change and solutions. We'll help you get your name and your ideas into local media, win an election and even host a regional climate summit. To get started - just click here - and we'll help you out!
Ambessa, one of our all-star educators, was so inspired by this new track that he wrote a song about it:
You might be surprised by how many people listen up when a well-informed young person asks them to consider their point of view--and how many lives you'll change.
