PowerShift 2013, the largest convergence of diverse, informed, climate-focused youth on the planet takes place October 18th, 2013. ACE is thrilled to be sending youth climate leaders from all over the country to this epic event to hone skills like organizing, campaigning and digital storytelling.
Here’s a snapshot of a few of the key leaders headed to PowerShift from North Carolina:
Taylor Blythe: Independence High School, Charlotte, North Carolina
Q. Why are you inspired to attend PowerShift with ACE?
Taylor: “I realize that we are going to have to change the way we behave in order to preserve our planet. I feel it’s important to become better educated about climate change and how we can make a difference.”
Emily Gibson: Hickory Environmental Action Team, Hickory High School | Hickory, North Carolina.
Q. What’s most exciting about going to PowerShift with ACE?
Emily: “I love that I am getting the opportunity to attend PowerShift 2013. I’m excited to be around young people who share the same passion and interests that I do about our environment! I’m also excited because it gives me the opportunity to take what I have learned back to my school! From there we can really begin to spread the word about climate education. ”
Both Taylor and Emily are attending PowerShift on full scholarships from ACE. Stay tuned to Hot & Bothered to follow ACE leaders on their journey through PowerShift and beyond.
