President Obama on Climate Today

President Obama’s speech today was amazing. You can watch it online here, or check out the action plan here.
The voices and work of young people across the country have influenced their target: the President of the United States is now willing to face the greatest crisis of our time. This is a moment to honor leadership as we prepare to get to work together.
The young leaders of 350.org, Green For All, Sierra Club, Hip Hop Caucus, and other organizations were joined by adult allies in the Indigenous Environmental Network, local organizations along the planned pipeline route, and now the President, to act on climate. That multigenerational leadership is a big deal and source of real strength.
Young people have the right to know what is causing the storms to surge, fires to burn, and insecurity to grow. We know that young leaders have the power to act on behalf of solutions that mean something to their communities and futures.
Young people in our network traveled to the nation’s capitol for the very first time and brought their voices alongside Bill McKibben and others in the largest public climate rallies in history just 6 months ago. Since then the momentum has built and leadership has grown. We honor the President – and all of us – ready to join the groundswell of youth brave enough to lead.
