The other day I went to Berkeley High School and asked a group of 7 students if they have ever heard of Jay Z and Alicia Keys’ song called “New York”. Duh, right.
I asked the same thing to a larger audience in New Orleans at a Green For All conference and the response was the same. Gotta love pop culture. But don’t get me wrong, I LOVE New York as much as the next person, but we are also swimming in the middle of a plastic pollution epidemic on the planet.
Ironically, some of the garbage floating in the Pacific Garbage Patch has labels from the Big Apple.
The dumping of water bottles and plastic bags are stopping the oceans from sucking up CO2 and causing damage to our health. That’s why Ben Zolno, from New Message Media called me up to rap in this new video spoof. Oh and did I mention, this video is my DOT 😉
Watch and share Plastic State of Mind, a hot new music video parody of the Jay Z/Alicia Keys classic, to find out why people all over the world are banning single-use plastic bags – including Los Angeles county yesterday!
With groundbreaking plastic bag bans being fought tooth and nail by the plastic lobby’s billions, we need a grassroots effort to get keep up the momentum established in LA, so enjoy and spread the word.
