From our friends over at the Brower Youth Awards
The Brower Youth Awards are an incredible opportunity to be ignited, inspired and energized to be an agent of change! The Awards honor six exceptional youth eco-activists all over North America. This year, join us as we celebrate the accomplishments of:
• Freya Chay, 15, of Alaska, who is energizing the Alaskan Legislature to support renewable energy
• Marcus Grignon, 21, of Wisconsin, for encouraging sustainability on the Menominee Reservation
• De’Anthony Jones, 18, of California, for creating a local environmentally focused youth culture
• Ana Elisa Perez Quintero, 20, of Puerto Rico, who started an organization dedicated to promoting environmental education
• Varsha Vijay, 22, of Iowa, for equipping Ecuadorians with biodiversity preservation technologies
• Misra Walker, 18, of New York, who lobbied to extend a bus line to the only riverside park in nearby neighborhoods
The best way to hear their incredible stories is to come meet hear their stories in person on Tuesday, October 19, 2010 at the Herbst Theater – 401 Van Ness Avenue, San Francisco CA!
The Awards Ceremony will run from 7:30 pm – 9:00 pm. It is free and open to the public, but RSVPs are necessary – so be sure to RSVP here!
The awards will be emceed by George Watsky, Spoken Word Artist and Performer and there will be exciting performances including DJ Hey Man. If you have a school or group reservation (10+ attendees), that’s awesome but please email us! [email protected].
If you want to go the extra mile, you can show up early for our reception before the big show. There, you can meet our honorees and mingle with the Earth Island community. Tickets are $100 and they include organic fare, wine and beer, and preferred seating for the Awards Ceremony. Purchase your ticket here!
