Whitney was born and raised in Namibia and a little in South Africa but currently resides in Johannesburg. She’s passionate about the African continent and diaspora, protecting, advocating and platforming its people, cultures and potential.
Prior to joining ACE, she was at AFROPUNK – microphone and lens of the Black community and diaspora particularly marginalized identities. She worked as part of a global team that created programming, experiences and content for the AFROPUNK communities in Brooklyn NY, Atlanta GA, Johannesburg, Bahia Brazil, Paris and London. An incredible experience that deepened her love and understanding of what community in this global, youth driven, online and social first culture can mean. She’s often married her collaborative spirit, marketing and community building through various programs such as being chosen as Curator for the Windhoek Hub for the World Economic Forums’, Young Global Shapers programme, to running a Multi-Government Stakeholder and Private NGO Partnership initiative across northern Namibia; to establish a Rural Health Network in the most densely populated part of the country. She’s also been a Dove ambassador using social platforms and content creation to message girls as young as 10 about self esteem, confidence and social pressures.
As a multi-hyphen creative she spends her time enjoying a creative studio she shares with friends, a place where to play with, learn or practice her love for art, print-making, design, writing, fashion, film-photography and filmmaking.
