Las Vegas

ACE has been active in Las Vegas since 2011. To date, we’ve educated over 54,280 students in the Las Vegas region with the live ACE Assembly and trained nearly 100 young people as climate leaders. In the 2015-2016 school year, our ACE Action Fellows joined with the Sierra Club, the Progressive Leadership Alliance of Nevada, and Vote Solar to advocate for a strong Clean Power Plan and solar-positive policies in Nevada. This school year, we’re looking forward to working with these same partners to advocate for a just transition to a renewable energy future by educating voters, advocating for a stronger renewable portfolio standard and working to replace the Valmy coal fired power plant with renewables.

Highlights from 2015-2016:

  • Action Fellows testified before the Nevada Division of Environmental Protection, calling for a fair and inclusive Clean Power Plan.
  • Action Fellows co-led a community-based building meeting to raise awareness about the Clean Power Plan stay.
  • Action Fellows delivered a powerful clean energy message to State Senator Pat Spearman.
  • Action Fellow Caitlin Gatchalian published a Letter to the Editor expressing support for rooftop solar and its health benefits.
  • Two Action Fellows testified before the Public Utilities Commission of Nevada supporting rooftop solar.
