Sebastian Ledezma was born in San Francisco del Rincon, Guanajuato, Mexico. At the age of seven, he and his family immigrated to the U.S. in search of a better future. They settled in Roanoke, Virginia. At age thirteen, Sebastian moved from a small town to the big city of Milwaukee. Milwaukee has taught him many values and helped shape who he is now.

Sebastian has always had a curiosity for how the earth really works. He has always questioned things like, “How do we get electricity? Where does that energy come from?” He learned that power plants burning fossil fuels generate a large majority of the earth’s power. He also learned that burning fossil fuels is one of the largest contributors to our Earth’s pollution and to climate change. Sebastian chose sustainable energy as his youth Participatory Eco-justice Action Research topic. His senior thesis questions is, “In what ways does Escuela Verde’s transition to solar energy influence the community’s thoughts towards sustainable energy?” He plans to educate his community on the benefits of transitioning into renewable energy.

Sebastian didn’t feel he was contributing enough with his thesis project, so he joined the Alliance for Climate Education, where he plans on expanding his knowledge on climate change and sharing it with his community. His favorite hobbies are playing soccer and video games. He is a diehard Brewers fan and a Milwaukee sports enthusiast.
