Michelle Vargas is a senior at Revere High School. She recently had the opportunity to visit Guatemala. Garbage littered the streets and whatever plastic wasn’t strewn across the ground was burned almost daily. It was only somewhat recently that she had become involved with environmental affairs, and even so, the sight was enough to make her cringe. It was then she realized that it is necessary that people become more aware of their environment and find better ways to take care of it. The environmental club at her school had accomplished a few small projects, but it was limited to their community. Hopefully, now being part of the ACE community, she’ll have a chance to spread the awareness and help others understand more about these issues that we face.
