Digital Fundraising Manager

Remote Position

JOB SUMMARY

ACE’s Digital Fundraising Manager (DFM) is a virtual fundraising and donor communications role responsible for the development and implementation of a comprehensive strategy to increase revenue through virtual channels– including email blasts, online ads, social media, and text/phone campaigns– and oversee related database administration. The DFM coordinates marketing and promotional efforts that drive donor engagement and digital fundraising revenue and leads in the production of virtual events such as donor webinars. The DFM reports to the Head of Philanthropy. 


ACE’s annual fundraising budget for the fiscal year 2022 is $11.2M. The DFM plays a critically important role to ensure the success of the full development team through the effective execution of multi-channel digital fundraising efforts. The DFM is the primary content generator and content reviewer for fundraising emails, donation pages, digital fundraising ads, and other digital elements – optimizing content and the donor experience across all platforms where donors interact digitally with the organization.

The DFM will join a small, skilled Development team with strong leadership, support and active fundraising led in partnership with the Executive Director. The DFM will also work collaboratively across all ACE teams and in close alignment with ACE’s Director of Digital Strategy to ensure the effective integration of donor communications into the overall ACE communications strategy. This is a fully remote position based anywhere in the United States that will require consistent, frequent communication and collaboration with a fully remote team. This is a tech-forward role in a very tech-forward organization.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Online Fundraising. Lead strategy and execution of ACE’s regular donor communication efforts with a focus on our major annual fundraising campaigns.
    • Draft copy, manage, format, and deploy donor emails/ texts on ACE’s messaging tools, following best practices to maximize engagement (i.e., opens, clicks, conversions), and collaborating with the Head of Philanthropy and staff across various departments to optimize messaging and delivery.
    • Develop targeting/segmentation that is responsive to donor interactions with the organization, given capacity, inferred or demonstrated donor interests, and other key segmentation attributes to create effective appeal strategies for multiple target audiences.
    • Create strategies and develop customized donor-centric digital experiences that achieve high conversion, retention, and engagement across multiple channels such as web, email, text/SMS, and social media.
    • Implement website changes as they relate to fundraising needs (campaign popups, online donation forms, fundraising landing pages, donate buttons on blog posts, etc) and design, build, and manage donation pages, tracking codes, etc., within our fundraising CRM. 
    • Coordinate with internal and external graphic designers to produce graphics and other media content for digital fundraising campaigns.
    • Collaborate with the Head of Philanthropy to develop annual income and expense budgets for digital fundraising.
    • Ensure ACE charity rating profiles are complete and up to date.
  • Annual Fund. Manage ACE’s grassroots annual giving programs (one-time and recurring gifts under $1,000/year) to ensure the grassroots annual fundraising budget is met or exceeded.
    • Create a new donor welcome series of multi-channel communications to educate new donors about our key programs, identify interest areas, increase engagement, and move donors into sustaining giving or other higher-tiered giving programs as appropriate.
    • Produce regular communications to keep donors informed across all giving levels, maintaining a dual-channel communications calendar that includes a regular data-driven cadence of both email and text/SMS stewardship and solicitation communications.
    • Manage sustaining giving programs such as our monthly giving groups and our “Round Up” monthly donor program, while thinking creatively about ways to convert one-time donors into sustaining donors.
    • Serve as the primary contact person for general donation inquiries via ACE’s donor website contact form, donor hotline, and [email protected] email address. Route inquiries via Salesforce Service Console to the appropriate staff person.
    • Ensure grassroots donors are appropriately thanked in a timely manner via automatically generated donation receipts linked to online donation pages and personalized communications from frontline fundraising staff when appropriate.
  • Database & Technology. Conduct gift data entry for all gifts received, generate revenue reports, and regularly conduct basic wealth screenings.
    • Generate list segmentation, imports, and exports within ACE’s CRM (Salesforce) and Engaging Networks.
    • Run regular reports to track effectiveness of donor communications, digital campaigns, and online platforms/webpages where donors engage virtually with the organization. Work collaboratively with the Head of Philanthropy to make data-driven, proactive recommendations and adjustments to increase effective activities, spot opportunities, and pivot away from ineffective efforts.
    • Regularly conduct basic wealth analysis on the grassroots giving donor base to identify potential mid-level and leadership-level donors, with an emphasis on first-time donors. Present reports weekly to the rest of the development team.
    • Manage all aspects of gift processing, such as data entry, donation acknowledgements, gift receipts, revenue reconciliation, etc. 

Evaluating Performance

Successful performance of job responsibilities will result in meeting or exceeding revenue targets for ACE’s grassroots annual fundraising budget as well as ACE’s major digital fundraising campaigns. Measurable increases in the following areas are also considered: 

  1. Grassroots giving overall (online gifts of less than $1,000)
  2. First-time online donations
  3. Conversion and participation in recurring, round-up, and other monthly sustaining giving programs
  4. Grassroots donor retention
  5. Donor engagement in digital fundraising campaigns and communications
  6. Effective donor acquisition ad campaigns 
  7. Grassroots donors wealth screened and assigned to an individual giving officer’s portfolio

QUALIFICATIONS


Minimum Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years experience in a nonprofit fundraising role with demonstrated experience in one or more of the following areas: 
    • Digital fundraising, annual fund, grassroots fundraising, nonprofit digital advertising, nonprofit marketing, donor communications, donor stewardship, donor relations, advancement services, or another applicable field within fundraising for this position.
  • Proven excellence with written communication skills and understanding of effective donor communication copyrighting practices.
  • Understanding of basic digital advertising concepts and how to evaluate advertising campaigns.
  • Excellent technological skills, and fluency required OR ability to learn: Salesforce, Monday.com, Engaging Networks, Slack, Google Apps, and other relevant programs as necessary.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Education: BA/BS preferred, but not required if the candidate has commensurate experience.
  • Professional certifications in digital fundraising, nonprofit marketing, or related field(s).
  • Self-motivated to manage multiple projects with thoroughness, accuracy, timeliness, and professionalism.
  • Experience managing a donor communications calendar for a similar-sized organization
  • Excitement to bring new ideas to the table and engage others in fundraising.
  • Troubleshoots challenges with patience and creativity.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to adapt as necessary to fulfill additional roles, responsibilities, and opportunities in development programming as necessary.

  • Schedule: Full-time 
  • Annual salary range: $75,000-$85,000 commensurate with experience
