Put Solar On It!

Just a few decades ago, a future powered by solar sounded like something out of a science fiction movie. With hefty price tags and few options for consumers, solar installations used seemed impractical and unaffordable. However, as we’ve seen time and time again, American innovation moves quickly and today the reality is starkly different. Just last year a solar installation was installed every four minutes in the United States, making solar the energy source of today, not tomorrow.

More solar was installed in the last 18 months than in the prior 40 years and the cost of a solar panel has decreased 50% since 2008. The rapid price decline coupled with no-money-down leasing options has demand for residential rooftop solar skyrocketing. Of course, more solar customers mean more jobs for the installers, electricians, and manufacturers who work in the solar supply chain. Today, the solar industry employs nearly 143,000 American workers. Solar just makes sense for the economy.

It’s time to shift the perception on solar. It’s no longer “too expensive,” or “out of reach.” We need to put the explosion of solar installations across America on display. That’s why ACE, along with 16 other organizations, are unveiling the first-ever National #PutSolarOnIt Day of Action on June 21st. This day not only marks the longest day of the year, the Summer Solstice, but also the ever-growing solar revolution that’s upon us.

Want to take action? Join ACE in celebrating the National #PutSolarOnIt Day of Action on June 21st and let us know where you want to see solar.

Finally, make sure to read more about what other organizations are doing in this joint press release.
