Rafi Dahdal is from Syria and now lives in Raleigh, NC where he is a junior at Cardinal Gibbons High School. Rafi believes that climate change is important because many coral reefs, which support marine life, are affected by the rising levels of carbon dioxide. Not only are the aquatic plants impacted, but the shells of aquatic animals can start to disintegrate because of the low level of pH (acidity) of the water. Rafi is passionate about science and volunteers at the STEM marbles museum where he teaches kids about science and how much fun learning about science can be. Rafi is also involved in the biology club at his school. He loves playing soccer and enjoys being a referee for the sport as well. Rafi believes that young people should be more involved in climate change because at the end of the day, they are going to have to address these issues by collaborating and thinking creatively to take care of our planet.
