North Carolina
Prerana Prabhushankar was born in San Jose, California, and has lived in California, Florida, and Massachusetts before she moved to Cary, North Carolina at the age of five. She attends Enloe High School in Raleigh, and enjoys spending her time outside of school reading, writing, hiking, practicing taekwondo, listening to music, and spending time with her friends and family. Prerana is on the board of her school’s Key Club, International Business Club, and Boys & Girls Tutoring Club and is also a member of Mock Trial and National Honors Society.
Her interest in climate change was first sparked when she decided to write her fifth-grade current event paper on global warming. After writing this, she realized that global warming was a pressing issue that would heavily impact humans and the rest of the world. She believes that it is important for young people to be involved in the solution to climate change because climate change will affect young people the most, and what we do now will directly impact how the world and life in the future will look. Prerana hopes participating in the ACE Fellowship will allow her to play a bigger role in advocating for climate justice and making a difference.
