Olivia Zhang
Fellow
Florida
Olivia is currently a sophomore at West Broward High school in Florida, and is a member of the Broward County Fellowship. Olivia is passionate about researching a wide array of perspectives, and loves to write, drawing from the connection between experiences and data. She is also obsessed with creating things, from posters to illustrations that spread awareness on important issues.
She joined the Fellowship to work with her community towards learning about climate change and its impact on the environment, while creating a network of individuals who strive to make a long-term change. The global issue of climate change is becoming increasingly more critical, while there is still an ongoing pandemic of misinformation. Olivia hopes to work with the Fellowship to spread awareness of climate and environmental justice and its impact at the local level, in a way that relates to individuals in an increasingly disconnected world; because, “”there is nothing more frightful than ignorance in action.”
Through the Fellowship, Olivia hopes to learn about and join the conversation on the different perspectives of climate activism and how to facilitate change in a way that benefits the environment and the communities that build off of it. She hopes to spread awareness on the increasing critical tension of climate change to at-risk communities; educating the younger generation that will become future leaders in a world that needs long-term change in order to survive. Aspects of climate activism that Olivia is most passionate about include sustainability in everyday lives, as well as climate and environmental justice.
