Mikey Lampel
Action Fellow Alumni
New York City
Mikey Lampel was born and raised in New York City and has been a passionate environmentalist since he was in elementary school. He feels that climate change is one of the most important issues humans face because it threatens the future of the world we live in and everyone in it. He believes that if people come together to fix it, it is a solvable issue and that educating people about it is the most important first step.
Mikey was introduced to ACE at the International Young Environmentalists Youth Summit in the Bronx, where he saw ACE’s presentation on climate change, along with demonstrations from many other environmental groups. He is one of the leaders of his school’s environmental club, which has numerous initiatives to promote sustainability both in school and in the community as a whole.
Aside from environmentalism, Mikey is very active in the theatre, specializing in lighting, scenery, and sound. He runs an independent production company with several of his classmates. He is also a competitive baseball player and coach, playing on his high school’s varsity team, and coaching kids ages five and up at a baseball camp. He loves working with kids, and hopes to bring his experience of working with them on the baseball field to educating them on the most important issues we face, and how they can make a difference in their communities and the world.
