Lauren Smith was born in Bronxville, New York. She’s currently a senior at DeKalb School of the Arts (DSA). She enjoys living life and taking adventures. Lauren is heavily involved with clubs in her school. At DSA she participates in Eco Team, Arts Mentor Society, culture club, fitness club, and thespian club. Lauren also has a passion for filmmaking. She’s infatuated by the fact that moving images on a screen can communicate a full story, leaving lasting effects on many people’s hearts. Lauren cares about climate change because teenagers have the power to make a difference for future generations to come. Lauren got started working on climate issues when Amber Nave visited her school and delivered the ACE Assembly on climate change. She started taking action on climate change by taking small steps such as turning off the lights, walking more, and taking shorter showers. Some of Lauren’s most memorable accomplishments at ACE have been testifying at an EPA hearing in Atlanta, co-producing the song Planet Savers, and participating in a letter writing campaign with Citizen’s Climate Lobby.
