Eva Lin
Action Fellow Alumni
San Francisco Bay Area
Eva Lin is a senior at South San Francisco High School and is originally from Taipei, Taiwan. At the age of 6, she moved to the U.S. with her small family of four, and together they built a life for themselves. Once in high school, Eva joined her school’s Earth Club to dedicate her free time to cleaning up her community. She attended various clean-ups throughout the years and takes care of her school’s recycling routine on a weekly basis. In 2014, Eva joined the National Honor Society to help those in need by attending multiple community service events, including working in a soup kitchen and participating in even more clean-ups.
Since she was young, Eva has always wanted to help the environment because she feels that, as a human, she has taken much from the planet in order to survive and given so little back in comparison. It was not until her school hosted an ACE Assembly in April 2016 that Eva realized how much climate change is actually affecting her family back home in Taiwan.
As a child growing up in the U.S. rather than Taiwan, Eva feels privileged that she does not have to experience much of the long-term or first-hand effects of typhoons. However, she has experienced the late-night, frantic phone calls made home to ensure the safety of her relatives when a typhoon hits near their homes. Eva believes that no one should have to experience sorrow, death, or any of the other devastating effects that climate change brings to people and places around the world. Climate justice is one of the reasons she admires what the ACE Action Fellowship does and stands for. She’s excited to raise awareness and to take action on climate change this year.
