Brooke Jacoby, born and raised in the suburbs east of Cleveland, Ohio, is a sophomore attending Mentor High School. Some of Brooke’s hobbies include biking, photography, exploring the shores of Lake Erie, lacrosse, and being a member of the Sparkles Cheerleading squad at her school. She also enjoys traveling, learning about other cultures, and seeing the planet’s natural beauty.
Her interest in climate change first started in freshman year biology when her teacher told her about Greta Thunberg’s climate strike. She didn’t know much, but after researching the basics of climate change and how rapidly the effects are being seen, Brooke was angered and knew she had to do something to stop it. She wanted to join ACE’s Fellowship program because of their empowerment of youth voices and the opportunity to connect with others in her home of Cleveland. Brooke thinks it is important for young people to be involved in this fight because it is their future being impacted. Only the young know what they want the future to look like, and it’s time to fight for exactly that.
