Asher is a 10th grade student at Research Triangle High School in Durham. He began advocating for environmental action and sustainability after visiting a Kibbutz in Israel in 2015 and learning about how underdeveloped communities can rely on recycling organic material to produce biogas. In the summer of 2017, he took part in UNC’s Energy Literacy, Engagement and Action Program (Energy LEAP) to better understand the regional coal, nuclear, gas, and solar energy production systems in eastern NC. Asher believes that climate change and its effects on habitats, ecosystems, and human life on planet earth is an imperative which we can not ignore.

When not pondering the mysteries of the universe, he might be found on a soccer field, skateboarding, running, playing violin with his chamber group, or spending time with his three younger siblings who he hopes will join him in the fight against climate change. As an ACE Action Fellow, he’s looking forward to learning more about how to better influence and advocate for climate change initiatives at every level.
