At the 4th annual Youth Climate Action Network (Youth CAN) Summit at MIT, a gathering high school climate leaders, hosted by the climate superstars at the Boston Latin School, ACE Northeast ran into our local partner Bikes not Bombs.
Now Bikes Not Bombs has some pretty rad projects going on – from their Earn-a-Bike program where youth build their own bikes and learn all about bike mechanics, safety, and environmental issues (talk about a marketable skill!), to their international program that’s shipped over 40,000 bikes to Central America, the Caribbean and Africa over the past 25 years.
At the YouthCAN Summit BNB had their pedal powered blender, or “blend a bike”, turning out tasty smoothies. Watch the video to see the “Blend a Bike” action.
If want to get involved and live in the Boston area head over to the Bikes not Bombs Hub on a Wednesday volunteer night, or sign up for the next Earn-a-Bike program starting in September.
