Learn about different Halloween-themed climate actions and events you can host this Halloween!
Eco-Disaster Costume Contest
- Decide the date, time and place. Post your event on ACE’s event calendar and create your own RSVP page.
- Announce the contest + publicize over social media and around school with signs and flyers. You don’t have to get contestant sign-ups in advance, but it helps!
- Gather any materials you may need (like small prizes and sign-in sheets) and any friends you need to help day-of. Having a dedicated person to take photos + video is helpful.
- Host! Start your contest by saying why you’re hosting – to draw attention to the climate emergency – and make sure that everyone who attends signs in or signs a petition so they can have fun AND take action on the climate crisis. Decide the winners with a panel of judges, secret ballot box, or by simple crowd enthusiasm.

- Host! Show up and create some theater! Stage a dramatic entrance in costume and deliver your demands to the officials’ office. Be sure to say why you’re there and what your demand is. Hand out flyers to onlookers and video your delivery. Leave peacefully when you’re done.

- Host! Set up the graves and then create some theater! Stage a mock funeral where you mourn the losses. Tell attendees what you demand and give them a call to take action. Hand out flyers to onlookers and video your delivery. Clean up when you’re done.
