It’s a Garden Party!

Berkeley High’s gardening community has grown faster than the organisms in it. The idea for the garden originally came from students, but couldn’t be accomplished without the ACE team’s help. Berkeley High has attempted to begin an edible garden in the past, with little success. This time, we have a staff member, Mr. Adel who is the designated garden teacher. There are many people involved with the garden, including the Green Academy senior interns (as seen in the photos). The philosophy of the garden is that one should have a relationship with their food. They should know where it comes from, and that is exactly what Mr. Adel provides the Berkeley High Community. Some AP Environmental Science students even got a chance to visit the garden and make a stir-fry containing all organic food grown right in their own community. The interns even worked on making a cob oven, it doesn’t get any more real than that! The Berkeley High Community managed to take a small piece of unused dirt, and transform it into a bustling garden, full of tasty edibles!
