April 2 is international Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwich Day. What does that mean for you? It’s an international holiday all about indulging in a favorite snack while slashing CO2 emissions. Check out the stats!

– Each time you have a plant-based lunch like a PB&J, you slash your carbon footprint by 2.5 pounds of carbon dioxide emissions, over a lunch like a hamburger, a tuna sandwich, grilled cheese, or chicken nuggets. That’s roughly 40% of the greenhouse gas emissions you’d save driving around for the day in a hybrid car.

– You’ll conserve water at lunch too! You’ll save an estimated 133 gallons of water at lunch versus the average American lunch! To put this in perspective, five PB&Js or other plant-based lunches per month would save more water than switching to a low-flow showerhead.

– Plus, when you go for a plant-based lunch, you save more than 24 square feet of land that would otherwise be deforested for livestock grazing and production.

Who out there participated in PB + J day? Drop us a line in the comments section and you’ll receive a special shoutout on ACE’s Facebook page!
