Where will you be on October 24?
It’s been circled on your calendar, programmed on your phone, tattooed into your mind — that’s right, this Saturday, October 24th, is the 350 International Day of Climate Action! More than 4,000 events are going down in 160 countries around the world – it’s a huge global party to stop climate change. Here’s where you can find us:
Bay Area:
What: The Big One: the afternoon spot where all Bay Area climate events come together. There will be music, poets, performers, food and a massive group aerial photo.
Where: Justin Herman Plaza, Embarcadero (map)
When: October 24, 3:00-5:00 PM — We’re meeting at 3:30 PM for a group high school picture
Los Angeles
What: South Bay Climate Action. We’ll form the Amazing Waving Human Tide Line to show how high sea levels could rise if climate change goes unchecked.
Where: Corner of Manhattan Beach Blvd and Ocean Drive, LA
When: 2:00 PM — we’re meeting at the corner of Manhattan Beach Blvd and Ocean Drive for a group picture.
Chicago
What: Rally Through Oak Park: planned for youth, by youth! Join up for a walk through the park and the greenest party you’ve ever seen.
Where: Oak Park River High School – Lake and East Ave.
When: 12:00 PM — meet us there for a group photo before the walk
PLUS: find Leah dropping some climate science in the Nature Museum’s lobby after 9:00 AM. You might just land yourself some green goods and a photo in Times Square!
Houston
What: 350 Low Carbon Rally: a huge City Hall party complete with food, music, downtown cleanup and green giveaways.
Where: City Hall, Houston (map)
When: 12:00 PM-2:00 PM — we’re meeting at 1:00pm at the ACE booth
Boston
What: Green Roof Block Party: music, food, green giveaways! With an ACE presentation to boot.
Where: Boston Latin School (map)
When: 11:00 AM-2:00 PM — we’re meeting after the ACE presentation for a group photo.
PLUS: Another sweet climate action will happen in New Bedford at 5:00 PM (map). We’ll tow a boat out of the harbor into the streets to illustrate the effects of sea level rise. You definitely won’t want to miss this. Full details here.
