This is what democracy looks like. We did it! Yesterday, the Senate passed the Inflation Reduction Act—the single largest climate bill ever passed in the United States. This is a huge win and YOU played a key role in this victory.

Just last week, ACE youth members from around the country made over 1,300 phone calls to their Senators, demanding they support this bill—with the majority of calls going to Senator Sinema, whose support of the bill was the final vote needed for passage. This was on the heels of delivering nearly half a million signatures with 20 of our partners at the White House last week, asking the Biden Administration and Congress to declare a climate emergency.

The human and climate benefits of the Inflation Reduction Act are historic:

  • Puts the US on a path up to 40% GHG emissions reduction by 2030
  • Focuses investments in environmental justice communities through over $60 billion to reduce air pollution and improve public health
  • Advances climate solutions and adaptation in rural communities by investing over $25 billion in farmers and forestland owners
  • Lowers energy costs through clean-vehicle rebates and energy efficient affordable housing

While the Inflation Reduction Act now heads to the House, where it’s expected to pass, we wanted to thank you. Whether you made a phone call to your Senator or signed a petition or supported ACE with your dollars—your support helped make history.
