Alan Palm

Lead Program Manager

Greater Boston Area

Alan is dedicated to sustainability education and youth empowerment. He hails from eastern Massachusetts, and he loves trees, waves, exploring the Earth, and good stories.

Alan is a graduate of the University of Colorado at Boulder, the Institute for Shipboard Education, and the National Outdoor Leadership School. After college, Alan and ACE alum Ethan Burke co-founded BioTour, an education organization that traversed the country on school buses converted to run on recycled vegetable oil and equipped with solar power. Over two years on the road BioTour visited 46 states, and presented at more than 150 events including K-12 schools, colleges, conferences, and rallies supporting the climate movement.

Alan discovered ACE in 2009 and served as Lead Educator in the Northeast region — establishing the team, building relationships with teachers and local partners, and educating tens of thousands of students.

Alan is developing the story of the BioTour journey into a book, supported by consecutive grants from the William Froelich Foundation. He has also taught “primitive skills” at Juniper Hill School in Maine that uses the forests, fields, and wetlands as its primary classroom.

As a Lead Program Manager, Alan continues to empower high school students with climate science that sticks and support ACE Action Fellows to raise their voices for climate justice.
