Victoria Whalen was born and raised in Georgia, but has her family ties in Upstate New York in Saratoga Springs. She is a recent graduate from Marymount Manhattan College where she received a double BA degree in Biology and Urban & Environmental Sustainability with a minor in Law & Ethics. She is also a rising law student, attending the University of Oregon and concentrating on Environmental Law. While in Oregon she is an Environmental Law Fellow and will be focusing on Environmental Justice issues and sustainability in the city of Eugene. Prior to joining the ACE team, she was involved with two climate related organizations, Our Climate and NY Renews. During these fellowships she worked as a Digital Media Fellow for NY Renews and focused on campaigning and lobbying for the passage of the Climate and Community Investment Act, a new bill that taxes corporate polluters and invests money into frontline communities. As an Our Climate Fellow, she focused on climate change education through the lens of environmental justice principles.
During her free time you can catch Victoria reading an Agatha Christie mystery, playing video games with her friends, watching countless amounts of movies and anime, and enjoying lounging around with her rescue dog Coco. She is also a huge musical theatre lover and loves the artistic side of life, so you can catch her painting, embroidering, or working on some new sort of DIY project.
