Pia is one of ACE’s Youth Organizers in Florida. Based in Orlando, she works to educate and empower youth to take action on climate change through civic engagement and advocacy campaigns. Prior to ACE, she completed an apprenticeship in Ecological Horticulture at the Center for Agroecology and Sustainable Food Systems at the University of California, Santa Cruz. Pia spent several years with the Agroecology Project of the Farmworker Association of Florida. Her work there included supporting community organizers spread throughout the state as they struggled for food sovereignty and justice for farmworkers. Fueled by her passion for language justice, she occasionally works as an interpreter and translator for English/Spanish, even though her native language is Spanglish.
Pia’s originally from Dominican Republic, but grew up in South Florida and has lived in central Florida since 2014. When not at work, she can be found hiking and learning about native plants, gardening, or, most likely, reading a sci-fi novel while lounging at the beach.
