Maayan Cohen

Director of Partnerships and Youth Leadership

Maayan is ACE’s Director of Partnerships and Youth Leadership. Based in New York City, she develops, manages, and supports partnerships at all levels of the organization, and proudly represents ACE in climate organizing and movement building spaces. Maayan leads ACE’s youth engagement efforts and the co-development of strategic initiatives with external partners, including campaigns and digital engagement.

Maayan joined the ACE team in 2011, first as an Educator and later as Program Manager in New York City. She helped grow the New York City program: presenting the ACE Assembly to thousands of students, kicking off NYC’s first Action Fellowship program, piloting ACE’s first Summer Institute, and building strong partnerships from the NYC Department of Education Sustainability Office to the United Nations.

She studied Environmental Studies with a concentration in Global Environment and Social Change at Bates College in Maine. She has a variety of experience in the environmental and climate field; from working as a high mountain hut naturalist for the Appalachian Mountain Club (AMC) to studying the environmental and human impacts of ecotourism in Lushoto, Tanzania. Before joining the ACE team, Maayan worked as an environmental and outdoor educator for Christodora, a NYC-based environmental education and leadership development nonprofit.

Maayan feels called to do this work because she sees climate change as the most urgent justice issue of our time, and believes wholeheartedly in the power of young people to lead positive change. She loves live music, playing soccer, practicing Capoeira and finding adventures in the city and in the mountains!
