Alexis is ACE’s Eastern Youth Organizer based in Southeast North Carolina. Alexis works to educate and empower young people in the eastern part of the state to take action on climate change through civic engagement and advocacy campaigns. Her range of responsibilities include youth organizing and training, delivering education programs at schools, implementing climate focused voter registration, partnership development, and communications.
As an active enrolled tribal member of the Lumbee Tribe of North Carolina Alexis feels as if she is mentally, spiritually, emotionally, and physically connected to the land. Holding the title of “Miss Lumbee” in 2015 Alexis was an ambassador for the Lumbee people and traveled the country educating the masses on indigenous culture and the environmental injustice they face. Alexis’ passions include but not limited to, environmental policy, conservation, women’s reproductive rights, indigenous rights, environmental justice, and environmental education.
In 2019, Alexis graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Environmental Science with a Concentration in Conservation and a great deal of geographic information systems (GIS) experience from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington.
During her free time Alexis is a professional singer who was recently featured on American Idol where she got the Golden Ticket to Hollywood. Alexis also enjoys being a makeup artist, model, and advocate for indigenous peoples rights.
