Abel Prado

Texas State Director

Abel is the Texas State Director for Action for the Client Emergency (ACE), based in Houston, Texas, and he’s passionate about climate change activism in the state’s largest oil and gas producer. It’s the kind of challenge he’s always relished taking on.

With nearly ten years of experience in politics and community organizing, Abel brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to ACE. As the Executive Director for Cambio Texas, an organization he co-founded, Abel spearheaded several initiatives to increase Hispanic voter turnout and worked with at-risk members of his community. Their work has been recognized by publications such as the Huffington Post, Texas Monthly, and the Washington Post.

Additionally, Abel has worked on over 75 campaigns at every level from federal elections to special utility districts to bond initiatives in Texas. Including serving as a Senior Advisor for Mike Collier for Lt. Governor, and other moderate office holders like State Senator Morgan LaMantia, Congressman Henry Cuellar, and State senator Eddie Lucio. Working in the center aisle of Texas politics gives him a unique perspective on how we can encourage climate action in a hard-right state.

Abel Prado attended the University of North Texas Mayborn School of Journalism. He’s committed to using his skills and experience to make a positive impact on Texas communities. In his free time, Abel loves a good show to binge and finding new reasons to justify his terrible eating habits.
