Exciting News from ACE'S Executive Director

By Pic Walker, ACE Executive Director

The leaves are falling and the days are getting cooler but the ACE program is heating up. Our offices around the country are humming. We just surpassed 550,000 students and more than 1,000 high schools reached with our climate science assembly.

I wanted to share a few highlights of ACE's programs from this past year...

Youth Rep: Faith Mullins

Hello! My name is Faith Mullins, and I am a junior at Central High School in Little Rock, Arkansas.

I became interested in climate change when I was introduced to ACE, and for the past six months I have worked with ACE on a few projects, such as a Clean Energy Forum held in Jonesboro, AR, and an Earth Day Rally where I delivered youth signatures on a Declaration of Independence from Fossil Fuels to Senator Blanche Lincoln's office last April...

What does today's election mean for the climate?

The outcome of today’s election will determine how likely Congress is to bring climate legislation forward in the next 2 years.

The big hold-up on a climate bill last year was a Senate that did not have enough votes to pass a bill. According to climate bloggers, there are 6 Senate campaigns to really watch today that will likely determine the future of climate policy at the federal level. Depending on how these turn out, and what the make-up of the House is after tomorrow, there may no longer be the votes possible for a climate bill in the next 2 years.

Here's how you can participate, even if you're not 18 yet...

Juno Actress Rocks a DOT

There's a buzz out there that Ellen Page is might be in the next Batman movie. Well, we caught up with her to shoot a little prequel to being an action hero.

Connection and green-spiration in Oakland!

By Mia Szarvas, student at Analy High School, California, and ACE Field Correspondent

So often I feel alone as a teenager with a passion to make a real change, a huge change. I feel like I am the only one who really cares about the nebulous crises that are taking place in our world: floods, droughts, rising temperatures, water shortages, shifting habitat corridors…

But that day, at the ACE leadership training in Oakland, I saw a roomful of people my age, who care just as much as me, and who have just as much motivation as me to make a change.

Be heard

Ever feel like no one is listening? Like your family or people in your neighborhood don't take climate change (or youth) seriously?!

ACE can help you raise your voice. We've got a brand new project track called Raise Your Voice - and it's all about helping you raise your voice about climate change and solutions.

Ambessa, one of our all-star educators, was so inspired by this new track that he wrote a song about it...
