Economists Want Climate Deal

The world's scientists have been clear for awhile that climate change is real, dangerous and must be stopped now.  And now, economists -- who aren't exactly known for their earth loving behavior -- are joining them in calling for strong, international action.

Athenian High School Takes Charge

Athenian High School in Danville, CA, was just one of several ACE Action Grant-winning schools last spring!

With solar panels already in place, we wondered how Athenian planned to take it to the next level.  As we read over their application it became clear: these students are determined to transform their school!

Not your typical day at the Beach... 350 Human Tide Line!

The ACE Team joined more than 1,400 people in Manhattan Beach for the South Bay 350 Climate Action in Southern California.  After hearing inspirational speeches from dozens of organizers, adults and youth, the crowd then spread across the beach to form a human tide line, indicating potential sea level rise if we don't take action to combat climate change.  People of all ages (and one friendly polar bear) gathered for this historic event, one of more than 5,200 events in 181 countries around the world.  Check out photos on the

Weekly science report - beginning: NOW!

Hi, world!  From here on out, I'll be posting a weekly science report/digest.

Here's the goal: stay up-to-date on current science topics in the news, as well as a chance to do some good ol' fashioned science learning.  However, I am terrible when it comes to catchy titles, so I'm taking all suggestions as to a good name for this weekly contribution to the blog.

Yay for science!
