Ruth leads ACE’s institutional development work, serving as the organization’s chief grant writer and managing relationships with our foundation supporters. She has worked in environmental causes for much of her career, with a few quirky side adventures in small business marketing, logistics, and backend operations. She has a background managing wildlife conservation programs and volunteer networks, and experience in all aspects of fundraising.
While she cut her teeth as a field biologist in the Caribbean, Ruth's work has covered a range of themes including international conservation policy and wildlife trade, at organizations such as the Canadian Wildlife Service and the International Union for Conservation of Nature. Along the way, she learned about fundraising, and eventually made it her full time focus, working at organizations such as the National Wildlife Federation before coming to ACE in 2015. She was educated at York University and the University of Toronto, and grew up straddling cultural boundaries in Canada and Venezuela. When not working she spends her time outdoors as much as possible. In less favorable weather she dabbles in astrology and poetry.
