Fred Fred

Name: Fredrick Dunston

School: Franklin County Early College

What’s one thing you’ve done to fight climate change so far?

Convinced others to use fuel stations that contain more ethanol.

If you could have a superpower what would it be and why?

Super speed, I could go to any country I wanted to without the long wait. I could also create sonic booms, which I find really neat.

 

 

Isa Isa

What’s one thing you’ve done to fight climate change so far?

I attended the NC Climate Justice Summit to both educate myself as well as others on climate justice issues and their solutions.

If you could have a superpower what would it be and why?

I would have the power to be multiple places at once, because it always seems like I’m missing something because I do so many things at the same time.

 

Michelle Michelle

Name: Michelle Sun

School: North Carolina School of Science and Math

What’s one thing you’ve done to fight climate change so far?

I spent the last summer modeling the effect of climate change on river basins in North Carolina.

If you could have a superpower what would it be and why?

I would want the superpower of flying so I would not have to take transportation anywhere.

What’s one thing you’ve done to fight climate change so far?

Started an Environmental Club at my school.

If you could have a superpower what would it be and why?

Time-travel so that I could learn about cultures from different periods of time. (I’m a history nerd!)

 

 

Lucy Lucy

Name: Lucy Russell

School: Ravenscroft

What’s one thing you’ve done to fight climate change so far?

One of the easiest things I’ve done recently to fight climate change is to carpool with friends. Whether it is driving with my neighbor to school or traveling witha group of my best friends to the beach, I always encourage everyone to drive fewer cars. If not for the benefit of fighting climate change it is also a great way to spend more time with friends.

If you could have a superpower what would it be and why?

If I could have one super power, I would choose to have the power of reading minds. I would love to be able to know what everyone was thinking in various situations. It would be especialy useful in times when my devious little brother attempts to be sneaky around me!

 

Gabby Gabby

Name: Gabrielle “Gabby” Loftis

School: Middle Creek High School

What’s one thing you’ve done to fight climate change so far?

One thing that I’ve done to help fight climate change so far is recycle and use less water. I’ve also joined my school’s environmental club.

If you could have a superpower what would it be and why?

If I could have a super power I would choose to be able to breathe under water because I really like swimming and the ocean.

 

Arjun Arjun

Name: Arjun Keshava

School: Wake Early College of Health and Sciences

Grade: 10th

What’s one thing you’ve done to fight climate change so far?

Planned a town-wide bottle recycling program. It hasn’t started yet but it may be a project. I also went to the EPA’s climate change program.

If you could have a superpower what would it be and why?

Breathing underwater because I love the ocean and any water sport!

 

Taylor Taylor

Name: Taylor Gosk

School: Carrboro High School

Grade: 10th

What’s one thing you’ve done to fight climate change so far?

In my freshman year I co-founded an Environmental Science Club at my school where we have 45 members and we’ve redone our recycling program and have started a composting program.

If you could have a superpower what would it be and why?

I would want to be able to jump in between lives. I could become any person at any time in history and see life from their eyes, and walk in their footsteps. So many of the world’s unanswered questions could be explained.

 

Nadia Nadia

Name: Nadia Sheppard

School: Chapel Hill High School

Grade: 11th

What’s one thing you’ve done to fight climate change so far?

I was recently part of the Youth Climate Leadership Practicum, which helped plan NC’s first Climate Justice Summit. This was a three-day long event that taught individuals about the effects of climate change, connected them with other motivated citizens and inspired them and gave them tools to take actions in their own communities.

If you could have a superpower what would it be and why?

I would have the ability to stop time. Stopping time would allow me to finish all of my work in a “real world” second so that I could go out and save the world.

 

Emily Emily

School: Hickory High School

What’s one thing you’ve done to fight climate change so far?

Start a recycling program at our school with bins in every classroom and throughout the school!

If you could have a superpower what would it be and why?

The ability to cure ignorance with a touch. I’d walk up to people and “boop!” cured! If we cured ignorance, everything could be solved.

 

Bailey Bailey

School: Riverside High School

Loves: The outdoors, Netflix and my huggable Saint Bernard, Claire. :)

What’s one thing you’ve done to fight climate change so far?

I’ve had the amazing opportunity to help organize North Carolina’s first Climate Justice Summit.

If you could have a superpower what would it be and why?

 

I would totally have the power of teleportation so I could travel the world with the snap of my fingers.

What’s one thing you’ve done to fight climate change so far?

One thing that I have done to help fight climate change is help plan the North Carolina Climate Justice Summit!

If you could have a superpower what would it be and why?

I would want to be able to control the elements. I would want this superpower because I love nature and would love to conserve it.

Loves: Playing the violin, guitar and mandolin. Watching and playing sports and being outdoors - paddling, rock climbing and backpacking.
