Brandon Hinds

2016-2017 Action Fellow

Brandon Hinds is a resident of New York City and he is currently a junior at Bishop Loughlin Memorial High School in Brooklyn.

Brandon’s love for protecting and preserving the environment originated from finding out that he shares his birthday with Earth Day. He believes that a birthday like that comes with great responsibility. At the age of 10, he began to first understand the relationships between the environment, agriculture, and health. This inspired him to start growing organic vegetables in his aunt’s garden and collecting rain water to nourish the plants.

In his sophomore year of high school, Brandon joined his school's Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) program which gave him the opportunity to develop a new recycling system in his school with his peers. Inspired by his experience creating systemic change in his school, he decided to pursue the ACE Action Fellowship. He knows the Fellowship will help amplify his voice and actions, unite the many other youth his age who want to work on climate change, and ultimately make immediate and long-term social change.

Brandon wants to not only amplify his own voice, but the voices of his brothers and sisters who fight for climate-positive change. He hopes that through the Fellowship, he can help make the world we live in a safer, healthier, and more sustainable for future generations.
