At ACE we believe everyone–especially youth–have the Right To Know about climate change, its impacts and the available solutions.

At ACE Assemblies happening in high schools across the country every week, thousands of students will have the opportunity to support this right by making a pledge, and declaring with one voice, that “we have a Right To Know about climate change and the power to educate others.”

For many students, the ACE Assembly is their very first time learning about climate change, and this pledge is their very first climate action. Making this pledge takes courage and real leadership amidst peers in the crowd, and in the face of such a great challenge.

But that’s just the beginning…

The ACE Assembly has inspired millions of students over the years to take further climate action in their schools and communities through campaigns and projects. And sometimes, that spark leads to unimaginable adventures for youth that rise to the challenge.

Take a minute to read about one of these leaders from New York City that will soon be on her way to PowerShift 2013, the largest convergence of climate-focused youth on the planet:

Tamie Le: 11th grader at St. Catharine Academy | Bronx, New York City, NY

Q. Tamie, tell us a bit about yourself and what inspires you to take climate action.

Tamie: “I currently reside in the City that Never Sleeps, New York. I was first inspired to take climate action by a video ACE made that I saw when I was a freshman.

I want to be an impetus in my school and community to change peoples’ lifestyles as well as my own, to prevent future problems for the environment and to spread awareness on this matter. I also want to empower others in my local community.”

She went on to say, “my school is initiating an Ecology club this year–so I want to be able to input my ideas that I learned from that experience.

She concluded, “lastly, I would enjoy the experience of meeting others that also have the same intention in mind, which is to go green!”
