Winning the New England Region Isn’t Easy, But One Team Almost Makes It Look Easy…

The New England region was a competitive region, with 12 teams, together eliminating 15,983 pounds of CO2 across Rhode Island, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Connecticut and Maine.

But one Action Team reduced their school’s CO2 output by 5,890 pounds, saving the school $436 in just 15 days. And that winner is:

Bow Venturing Crew
of Bow High School
in Bow, New Hampshire

Students listen at the Leadership Training
“Oh my gosh is this exciting! : ) The biggest thing that came from this in my opinion was the interest and awareness it raised in the students. Once a teacher explained why the lights were off, it left the whole class thinking,” says Erin, one of the team members.

This isn’t the only project for the team. In addition to Biggest Loser: Energy, this year they’ve done a host of projects including roadside and beach cleanup, planted tree seedlings and hosted a green locker clean out at the end of the school year. With that kind of ambitious agenda, active student members attending ACE Leadership Trainings and their win, we expect even more great things to come.

Says faculty sponsor Marcel Duhaime, “$500 is going to go a long way toward making our Venturing Crew even more active in making our world a better place! Thank you ACE for making these kinds of opportunities available to students!”

Congratulations to Bow High School, The Bow Venturing Crew, Mr. Duhaime and everyone else who’s been involved in building such an amazing team.
