This is a guest post by ACE New England Educator Rouwenna.

Oakmont Regional High School in Massachusetts has been BUSY this semester! In addition to participating in the Biggest Loser Energy Competition (stay tuned for more on their work saving energy in 33 classrooms), they have done NINE other projects this spring alone, including an in-depth Green Week, and lots of experimentation for future fundraising ideas.

Check out all the projects they’ve done since their start with ACE in 2009 here to get ideas for your club.

One of the neat things they did this year was to incorporate green ideas into the school’s Wellness Day.  Oakmont’s Environmental Assocation held a workshop where students learned about sugarcane bagasse tableware, what happens to their recycling, composting and Terracycling, made a DOT video, planted some heirloom vegetable or flower seeds to take home, and made reusable lunch bags from duct tape.

Read on to check out their sweet DOT video – watch for the zoom in on the duct tape lunch bag!
