Climate Ride NYC – DC

Well folks, Climate Ride NYC to DC starts tomorrow and man are we excited! Some of you hard-core Hot and Bothered readers may remember Climate Rider Casey’s daily updates from last summer’s Climate Ride California, where she documented her week-long bike ride up the California coast in support of ACE. Starting tomorrow, Sam McKelvie, another powerful female and former ACE Office Manager, is riding her bike all the way from New York City to our Nation’s Capital, Washington D.C. on behalf of ACE. Go Sam, Go!
So what exactly is Climate Ride? Glad you asked. Climate Ride is a fellow non-profit organization that organizes charitable bike rides to support bike advocacy, clean and sustainable energy solutions and environmental organizations and causes. Each rider is in charge of raising at least $2,400 for an environmental organiztion of their choice.
Sam is really looking forward to the ride and is excited to be a part of the Climate Ride team. She says: “When I saw that ACE was looking for someone to join the Climate Ride, I jumped at the opportunity. I’m not a cyclist, but I was excited for the challenge. As a former ACE Staff, I truly believe in the work they are doing and know from personal experience that ACE works. There is no other organization I’d rather support, as climate change is the most important issue facing our world today. Signing up was the easy part though: since then I’ve raised $3,700 for ACE and racked up over 1,000 miles in training laps around Central Park. I’m excited – and nervous! – for my first multi-day ride this weekend.”
Climate Ride NYC to DC is special ride not only for the beautiful scenery, but because it ends on the steps of Capital Hill. If that’s not impactful, I don’t know what is. We are so excited to follow our girl Sam as she pedals her bike 45 to 70 miles a day in honor of ACE and supporting clean energy initiatives. Check out the Climate Ride blog for daily updates on the ride. Also, there’s still time to support her in this adventure, and gift to Sam is a gift to ACE.
