Last week some of the world’s top professional skiers and snowboarders teamed up with ACE and Protect Our Winters to discuss something near and dear to their hearts: the impact of climate change on mountain communities across the world.

Now when I say top professional winter athletes, I’m not messing around!  Check out the amazing line-up who came out to support climate solutions in Jackson Hole, Wyoming:

Kit DesLauriers: The first person to ski the highest summit on every continent!

Seth Hill: A snowboarding machine and Dew Tour Athlete!

Matt Philippi: A world renown Freeskiing and Halfpipe champ!

Over the course of three days, these athletes inspired over 1000 students in the Jackson Hole area to help find climate solutions in their schools, and student response was huge!  Jackson Hole High School’s Environmental Club membership surged from 5 members to 45 following the assembly!

In the coming months, the entire Jackson Hole School District will be competing in ACE’s Biggest Loser Energy Contest, working to drastically slash their carbon footprint and save their schools money and energy.  Student actions will be supported on the ground by the local Wyoming nonprofit, Interconnections 21.

Alright, so the question is, what’s your DOT this winter?  Here are some things you can do right now to help protect our winters and save our snow:

– Carpool or take public transit to the slopes.
– Rock some used snow gear.

– Stay cool.  Set that thermostat at 66 degrees.

Have other ideas?  Post them below!
